Rajinder Khanna succeeds Alok Joshi, to be new RAW chief
Bengaluru, Dec 20: Rajinder Khanna will head the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW). He succeeds Alok Joshi as the chief of RAW. Khanna is a 1978 batch IPS officer from Odisha.
His appointment comes at a time when India is battling various terror outfits both internally and externally. He is an expert at counter terror operations and his leadership will be crucial to India's security issues.
Khanna has a bigger role internally to play. There is a huge shortage of staff in the agency which is begging to be filled up. Moreover there are also certain internal feuds within the agency which will also need to be tackled by Khanna.
Even the recently appointed Intelligence Bureau Director Dineshwar Sharma has similar issues such as vacancy to tackle.
In the RAW circles the appointment of Khanna was on expected lines. Officials in the agency tell oneindia that they are pleased with his name being announced for the top job although they feel he has a tough task ahead of him.
They also said that the name of Ashok Prasad was also doing the rounds.
