Jaipur, July 2: Child marriage still exists in many parts in India, especially in Rajasthan. But what many may not know about another shocking ritual, which is called "Nata Pratha".
According to Nata Pratha, a married man can have an extra marital affair with another married woman. Marriage works as a license to continue the illicit love affair.
Now, a 35-year-old man tied knots with a 6-year-old girl to get the license to continue his affair with another married woman.
According to media reports, the incident took place in a village in Rajasthan. 35-year-old Ratan Lal, a councilor by profession, got married to a 6-year-old girl during a secret ceremony.
This was an arranged marriage and a broker had helped Ratan Lal to trap the young child. According to media reports, the girl will stay with her parents and will receive fees from her so-called "husband".
According to sources, Ratan Lal faced criticism for having an affair with a married woman. Hence, he decided to get married to a child to solve his problem.
Reports also claimed that local police arrested Ratan Lal for violating the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act 2006. Cops are yet to arrest the broker.
