Guard of Honour to Dishonour: Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje irked by pot-bellied policemen
Raje, who returned home after completing two-day Madhya Pradesh tour, reached Kota on Tuesday, Aug 5. Raje while coming out of her private helicopter noticed the cop and complained to his senior officials.
Complaining to senior police officials Govind Gupta, Raje said, "Had there been a Central leader or a VIP in my place, what type of impression of the state police he or she would have carried back?"
Policemen were served showcause notice and charge-sheeted as Raje was upset
Citing the wrath of the CM, Gupta issued a show-cause notice to his subordinates and charge-sheeted the officer who had picked up the team of the cops to present the guard of honour.
According to sources, the Rajasthan CM was returning to Jaipur. However, her helicopter was running behind of the schedule due to heavy rains. Later, Raje came to Kota for a brief stopover to refuel her helicopter on way to Jaipur, added sources.
Despite Raje's complaint, senior police officials claimed that 10-member team, which was selected for CM's guard-of-honour, was fit, except one person.
Media reports quoted the officials as saying that it was mandatory for policemen to attend PT exercises and parades held on Mondays and Fridays. For office staff, however, to attend at least 25 per cent of these exercises were mandatory. Moreover, all the officers volunteered themselves for jogging on Saturdays.
