Jaipur, Aug 20: The ruling BJP has bagged 37 per cent votes by polling 10,53,360 ballots in the civic bodies elections held in 31 out of 33 districts in Rajasthan, followed by Congress which got 9,58,154 votes.
The vote share of Congress stood at 33 per cent. Independent candidates polled 7,56,799 votes whereas 35,151 voters preferred NOTA (None Of The Above) in the August 17 polling.
With 10.53 lakh votes, BJP got a clear majority in 49 civic bodies while Congress with 9.58 lakh votes got clear majority in 19 bodies.
Independent candidates are in majority in 12 civic bodies, NCP in one and remaining 48 bodies have no clear majority.
In the results for 3,351 wards in 129 bodies declared today, BJP won 1,442 seats.
The Opposition Congress won 1,164, BSP 16, CPI 5, CPI(M) 1, NCP 19 while 704 seats were won by Independent candidates.
Maximum of the NOTA option (5,308) was used in Ajmer district which has five local bodies. It was followed by Bhilwara district where 3,064 voters in seven civic bodies pressed NOTA button while voting to express no pleasure for any of the contesting candidates.
