Senior Congress leader Kamal Nath on Wednesday said that Rahul Gandhi will be back to work in five days.
Rahul has been "granted leave of absence for a few weeks after which he will return and resume his active participation in the affairs of the Congress party", party sources said.
They said he has "requested Congress President Sonia Gandhi for some time to reflect on recent events and future course of the party".
An AICC session is expected in early April and reports are suggesting that Rahul could be made the party chief on that occasion.
Reports also suggested that Rahul Gandhi had taken a break because he was disappointed about not getting a free hand to manage the party's affairs.
Congress leader Kamal Nath said that there won't be any confusion if there will be single stop solution in the party.
"When I go to Sonia with a problem, she says please go to Rahul Gandhi. When I go to Rahul Gandhi, he says the Congress president will resolve (the issue)", nine time MP said.
In a candid interview he supported Rahul's coronation as party's president."We need to give Rahul full charge. Let him form his own team. We will soon find out if he can even do the job or not."
Earlier, Sonia Gandhi defended her son on sabbatical issue. When she was asked whether Rahul Gandhi will replace her as party president she said, "When it is decided, will let everyone know".
