Rahul Gandhi welcomes right to privacy verdict, calls it major blow to fascist forces
Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday welcomed the Supreme Court's judgment on right to privacy and characterised the judgment as a "sound rejection of the BJP's ideology of suppression through surveillance"..
Gandhi in the series of tweets, said,"SC decision marks a major blow to fascist forces. A sound rejection of the BJP's ideology of suppression through surveillance."
Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court held that Right to Privacy is a fundamental right. The verdict was delivered by a nine judge Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court headed by the Chief Justice of India, J S Khehar. The Bench in a unanimous decision held that right to privacy is a fundamental right.
It also added that the right to privacy is intrinsic to the entire fundamental rights chapter of the Constitution.
