New Delhi, March 16: Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi is unlikely to be anointed as party president in April.
Earlier, speculation was rife that Rahul could be promoted as Congress president in April, but media reports now say that the Gandhi scion may not be given the president post just yet as the dates for the AICC session have not been finalised.
The session was expected to took place around April 10, 2015 in Bengaluru.
Currently, Rahul's mother Sonia Gandhi is holding the post since 1998.
In January 2013, Amethi MP was promoted to vice president at the Jaipur conclave of AICC. 2007 was the most important year for Gandhi scion when he was appointed General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee.
In the same year, he was also given charge of the Indian Youth Congress and the National Students Union of India. Rahul Gandhi's career has seen many downs than ups after taking party vice president's reins in his hand.
Congress has been performing badly since 2013, which started from Lok Sabha polls and then subsequently continued in State assembly polls too.
Rahul who left for sabbatical just ahead of Budget Session of Parliament had last week extended his leave. Sources say Rahul will now return only by March end. Earlier, Gandhi scion was to return Delhi by March 10.
