"You can't give people of India the right to food without the farmers of Punjab and Haryana. Punjab provides food to entire nation. Country can not move forward without Punjab. We thank you for that," said Rahul while concluding his speech.
India needs women-power, claims Rahul in Punjab:
Speaking about women-power in the country, Rahul Gandhi said, "The country needs women-power. If a mother is perturbed, the house is perturbed and if the house is perturbed, the state is perturbed. Unless women are brought into politics, we will not the progress we want."
"There is not a single mother in Punjab who isn't worried about her children's future and the biggest reason is - addiction," he added.
Manmohan Singh is my guru: Rahul Gandhi in Punjab
Speaking at the rally, Rahul Gandhi praised prime minister Manmohan Singh. Rahul said he has two guru in politics -- Congress President Sonia Gandhi and PM Manmohan Singh.
The young Gandhi family scion slammed opposition parties and media for spreading wrong and misleading words about Singh. He recalled contribution made by Singh towards this country.
"Manmohan Singh has the right intent - and he has transformed the developmental paradigm of India," said Rahul.
Rahul Gandhi overwhelmed by India's support:
After Uttar Pradesh, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday, Oct 10 reached Punjab where he addressed a huge crowd during a rally for election campaign for Lok Sabha election 2014.
He defended his previous move of opposing UPA government's ordinance on corrupt MP. He said that he was overwhelmed by the support of the countrymen who supported his decision.
