Everyone loves a good joke on the Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi. The social media is once again abuzz with Rahul or Pappu (as trolls call him) jokes, as speculation is rife that the Gandhi scion is all set to become the new party president.

After news reports suggested that Rahul would be soon elevated as the Congress president, Twitterati mocked the leader with full vigour. Two of the top Twitter trends making fun of Rahul on Thursday (June 2) were #Rahul4CongPresident and #WeWantPappu.

The users of the micro-blogging site find the Congress leader inapt to hold the top decision-making position in the party. They feel that Rahul lacks leadership quality as it is evident since the party's debacle in 2014 Lok Sabha Polls. Rahul has been also held responsible for the party's poor performance in the recently concluded assembly elections.

Here we bring you some of the tweets on Rahul:

"At last a Twitter trend everyone can love: #Rahul4CongPresident," tweets Sadanand Dhume (@dhume).
"Even BJP also want #Rahul4CongPresident," tweets Hiren Sheth (@shethha).

"YES THE NATION WANTS QUALITY ENTERTAINMENT! I SUPPORT #Rahul4CongPresident," tweets Yashveer Jain (@yjthere).

"Aftr big defeat of Alliance parties of Cong in Wb &TN, other local parties may think 100 times to Join cong if pappu bcm pres😃 #WeWantPappu," tweets Ramrao kulkarni (@RamraoKP_).

"#WeWantPappu because, laughter is the best medicine Smile please," tweets MODIfied জয়দীপ ® (@Joydeep_Moitra).

"#WeWantPappu People going overboard making fun of pappu. Atleast give him respect which he does not deserve, for making things easy for BJP," tweets chanda prabhu (@chandaprabhu).

While some jokes were smart and hilarious, others were nasty. However, we must give credit to Rahul for not getting offended by these jokes. As we all know in India, our politicians and celebrities are worshipped as gods. Cracking jokes on their behalf had proved costly for many in the past.
