Rahul follows grandma's footsteps; to undertake 'Sadbhavna Yatra' for party revival
And bearing the flagstaff would be the Congress boy Rahul Gandhi yet again. He would be launching a mass contact programme, banking on distractions of the prime minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government and also raising the issue of recurrence of communal incidents.
The yatra also emulates BJP patriarch LK Advani's yatra style politics by undertaking a similar mass communication yatra under party vice-president Rahul Gandhi by highlighting Modi government's promises that have not brrn kept.
Although the decision has not yet been finalised, it is said that the yatra will start from Sriperumbudur town in Tamil Nadu, where late prime minister Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated, a massive mobilisation is required to make it a success.
Political leaders are of the opinion that soon after her defeat in 1977, Indira Gandhi too had taken up a yatra across the country for the party;s revival.
However party seniors believe that the yatra should wait till the Modi government makes more mistakes. According to a report by DNA, leaders said,"We are awaiting for many more distractions of Modi government, on economic and political fronts, in order to take these issues to people in proper perspective."
