Punjab polls: Left parties to contest assembly elections
New Delhi, Aug 17: Left parties on Wednesday announced to contest the 2017 assembly elections in Punjab.
Elections to the 117-member Punjab assembly are likely to be held in February next year. The Akali Dal-BJP alliance has ruled Punjab since 2007.
This time the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has also announced to contest the Punjab polls and first list of candidates has already been announced by the party in the first week of this month.
Confident AAP not keen to project CM candidate in Punjab
The emergence of the AAP as a challenger to the Akali Dal-BJP combine and the Congress could make the contest triangular on all 117 assembly seats.
