Prostitution Racket: Irony in Telugu actress Shweta Basu case

Hyderabad, Sept 4: Even after six days of her arrest in connection with a sex racket in Hyderabad, Shweta Basu continues to make headlines. By now everyone knows everything about the girl who once had won our hearts with her acting as a child artist.

But does anyone know anything about the persons who were arrested along with Shweta, a 23-year-old Telugu actress? Police, other officials connected with the prostitution racket disclosed all information regarding Shweta Basu. And here comes the irony -- irony of being popular and irony of being wealthy.

While police did not hesitate to expose the person who are paid for having sex, cops maintain complete silence about names and identities of the high profile businessmen who paid for it.

Social media including Twitter had gone abuzz with questions regarding the identities of the businessmen who were arrested along with Shweta and the pimp Balu.

It was revealed many high profile businessmen, who were from several metro cities such as Bangalore, Hyderabad, New Delhi, Mumbai, were arrested red handed in a star hotel at Banjara Hills in Hyderabad.

Police maintain complete silence regarding information about businessmen

According to reports, Shweta was in the business knowingly. She earlier was caught in a compromising position during a sting operation. Balu, the pimp, used to take Rs 1 lakh on behalf of Shweta.

After her arrest, one official statement from actress said, "I have made wrong choices in my career and I was out of money. I had to support my family and some other good causes."

"All the doors were closed and some people encouraged me to get into prostitution to earn money. I was helpless and with no option left to choose, I got involved in this act," she added.

The young actress, who was arrested by Hyderabad police, also added, "I'm not the only one who faced this problem and there are several other heroines who have gone through this phase."

Shweta had won national award for her Bollywood movie Makdee. She had also acted in several Hindi movies and TV serials, such as -- Iqbal, Kahani Ghar Ghari Ki, Karishma Ka Karishma and many more.
