Prof Kalburgi murder: CID probe ordered

Professor MM Kalburgi was murdered at his door step yesterday by two persons. Two persons came on a motor cycle to his residence at Kalyan Nagar, Dharwad and shot him dead yesterday.

We have been hearing of such intolerance in Bangladesh where bloggers have been murdered, Kumar also said while stating that the matter should be probed thoroughly.

The matter is currently being probed by the Dharwad police under the supervision of Alok Mohan, Additional Director General of Police (law and order). The police are on the look out for one Bhuvith Shetty who had posted a message on twitter yesterday relating to the death of Kalburgi. Claiming that he is a co-convenor of the Bajrang Dal, he had defended the death of Professor Kalburgi. The Bajrang Dal has however distanced itself from Shetty and said that there is no such person in the organization.

Police sources say that they have not arrived at any conclusion about who the killers are. It could well be a statement just out of bravado. However we want to probe this person who had posted a comment on his twitter account and later went on to delete it. This is one angle to the probe, the police also informed.

On the other hand, the police have been questioning several eye-witnesses who were on the streets when the two men sped away on their motor cycle yesterday after murdering the Kalburgi. We are getting vital leads in the case and will be able to crack it soon, the police officer also said.
