Muzaffarpur, May 9: Private doctors here went on a two-day strike beginning today to protest against the growing incidents of attack on them by people accompanying patients, and police inaction to nab the culprits.
More than 100 doctors of the district are not going to their clinics and nursing homes today to protest against growing incidents of attack on them by people accompanying patients, District Secretary of Indian Medical Association (IMA) Sanjay Kumar said.
He said the strike would continue tomorrow also. Kumar, himself a doctor, said the decision to go on strike was taken after a meeting to review growing incidents of attack on them over death of patients during the treatment and police inaction in arresting the culprits, and providing them security.
A group of people attacked doctors and vandalised a private nursing home in Maripur area under Kazi Mohammadpur police station day before yesterday over death of a patient in the presence of police, he alleged.
Similar activities were witnessed in some other nursing homes also in recent past prompting doctors to agitate, he said.
