PM's wife Jashodaben gets police protection

Jashodaben and Family
New Delhi, May 31: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's wife Jashodaben has been given round-the-clock police protection by the Mehsana police. Leading a quiet life in Brahmanwada village of Unjha town of Mehsana district, she has been assigned 5 policemen from Mehsana police station for round-the-clock protection.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Mehsana HQ said "Based on orders given to us by our superiors, we have deployed one armed guard and 4 other unarmed policemen of police HQ for the security of Jashodaben since yesterday. They will remain stationed near her house 24x7 and move wherever she goes".

Jashodaben came to the forefront when Narendra Modi mentioned her as his wife in the affidavit to the Election Commission. While his wife is living with her brother in Brahmanwada village of Unjha in Mehsana, his mother lives with Modi's younger brother Panjak Modi in Gandhinagar. However, no protection has been assigned to them yet.

A senior police official said,"Since there are no specific orders yet from Centre or state government in that regard, we have not provided any security cover to them yet."
