Prime Minister Modi salutes Chaudhary Charan Singh on his birth anniversary
New Delhi, Dec 23: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday saluted late Prime Minister Charan Singh on his birth anniversary.
"A tall mass leader who dedicated his life to the welfare of farmers and the poor, I salute Chaudhary Charan Singhji on his birth anniversary," he said in a tweet.
Charan Singh was born Dec 23, 1902 at Noorpur in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh.
Chaudhary Charan Singh, who had served as the sixth prime minister from 28 July 1979 until 14 January 1980, passed away in 1987. Charan Singh is father for former Union Minister and RLD chief Ajit Singh.
