Third one in ten years: Prime minister to hold press conference today
New Delhi, Jan 3: Prime minister Manmohan Singh will hold a press meet today at 11 am - the third one in past ten years. In the conference, the PM is likely to announce his plans post-Lok Sabha polls.

Earlier this week, media had reported that the PM asked Sonia Gandhi to relieve him of official duties after Lok Sabha polls. Reportedly, he told the Congress president that he wanted a break from official works.

Speculations ahead of PM's press meet

PM is likely to address several issues including inflation, corruption, and the list the achievements of the UPA government in the last decade.

In the meet which comes ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, the PM may list achievements of the UPA during its tenure in the last 10 years in the area of economic growth, employment generation and foreign policy in the press conference.

He might announce his decision to step down to make way for Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi. Reportedly, he has informed the party leadership that he would prefer to mentor Rahul Gandhi for the post of PM. This meet is likely to see the announcement of Rahul Gandhi as the party's prime minister candidate.

More details are awaited.
