Pondicherry: Pakistani student attacked in hostel

Lahore, May 17: A Pakistani student, Ali Raza was allegedly attacked by three people in a hostel in Pondicherry University. Raza returned back to his home in Lahore on Saturday.

According to reports, Raza was attacked when he was sleeping in his room at the CV Raman Hostel. He was attacked with iron rods and liquor bottles and sustained injuries on his neck and head.

On his arrival in Lahore, Raza said that he was glad to be back home. His parents however said that they would never send Raza back to India to complete his studies.

Raza was doing a post-graduate course in South Asian studies. He is the first and only Pakistani student in Pondicherry University.

Meanwhile the Student Federation of India said that the university must take adequate measures to make sure that the attackers are investigated.

Following the attack, the university issued new restrictions on entries to the boys hostel.
