New Delhi, Nov 25: In the wake of rising pollution level in Delhi and NCR, the Supreme Court on Friday ordered to ban the sale of all fire crackers.
"Fire crackers should be enforce from today onwards till further
order", Court ruled on a petition.
The Apex Court also asked Centre to ensure that no licenses shall be renewed till further orders.
Expressing concern over pollution levels in national capital causing serious health issues to crores of people, SC directed Central Pollution Control Board to file a reply within 3 months regarding harmful effects of fire crackers.
Post Diwali, Delhi witnessed severe level of air quality, marked with low visibility. The reasons for this degradation of air quality were attributed to smoke due to firecrackers and negligible wind speed to disperse the pollutants.
