Trichur, Jan 8: Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, who is undergoing an ayurvedic treatment in his home state of Kerala, may leave for police investigations tomorrow. The 58-year old politician was sent a notice to join the investigation as soon as possible.
Although Delhi police has not named any suspects in the murder case of Sunanda Pushkar, also the wife of Tharoor, it expects the politician to join them. A top official at the ayurvedic hospital in Trichur where the Congressman is currently staying said,"He has come here for 14 days of treatment ... most probably he may be leaving from our place by tomorrow. And he has come basically for his treatment for his lifestyle problems like a frozen shoulder."
Meanwhile, the Delhi police chief BS Bassi said that the politician will be questioned soon along with others about Ms Pushkar's death, which for months was considered a suicide. The speculations stemmed in her open allegation against her husband of having an extra-marital affair with a Pakistani reporter Mehr Tarar. When the murder angle cropped up and Tharoor faced the heat, he alleged that the police were trying to frame him. This allegation, however, was dismissed by the police.
In a recent letter to the police chief, Tharoor also alleged that his domestic help was being beaten up by policemen to intimidate him in stating that he and the politician together murdered Pushkar. This too was held baseless by the police.
