Police team to search key CD in Asaram's ashram

, Sept 6: A police team is set to reach arrested godman

's ashram in Ahmedabad and other places to trace a key CD which will help the investigation into the sexual assault charge against him.

The CD is said to be in the possession of Shiva, a close aide of Asaram who has also been arrested for assisting the godman in allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl who had gone to seek his blessings.

Police said the CD will help them in probing how Asaram secretly carried out his religious practices and prayers with girls and women. An application was also made seeking Shiva's remand to help recover the CD. The court remanded the aide in three-day police custody.

Shiva reiterated Asaram's claim that everything is a Congress conspiracy

Shiva, however, denied that there is anu such CD and alleged that the police were fabricating things. He also accused the police of putting pressure on him to admit that the CD exists.

Shiva said Asaram had never met any female followers in isolation and also suspected the allegations made against the godman by the minor. He said had she been sexually assaulted, she would have been shocked but claimed that the girl was seen playing with children the next day.

He also said that he was not with Asaram on the night of the alleged crime and reiterated the latter's claim that the entire episode was a conspiracy hatched by the Congress.
