Chennai, Feb 9: Acting Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam on Thursday said the Poes Garden residence of the late J. Jayalalithaa will be converted into a memorial. He made the comment while welcoming the support of AIADMK's Presidium Chairman E. Madhusudanan, who had earlier pressed party General Secretary V.K. Sasikala to lead the party.
Speaking to the media at his residence, Panneerselvam said: "Jayalalithaa's Poes Garden residence will be converted into a memorial." Sasikala, a long-time confidante of Jayalalithaa who died in December, now resides at the house.
Panneerselvam welcomed to his camp Madhusudanan, who said his conscience told him to join hands with Panneerselvam. "Our senior leader Madhusudan was threatened and pressurised, even after that he stood alone to safeguard party. We welcome him," Panneerselvam said.
A war of words has erupted between Panneerselvam and Sasikala both who are fighting for the chief ministerial post.
