New Delhi, May 23: Prime Minister- designate Narendra Modi will draw per month salary of Rs 1.6 lakh, once he officially takes the oath as the next PM on May 16, Friday.

According to a CNN IBN report, his basic salary will be Rs 50,000, with a sumptuary allowance of Rs 3,000, a daily allowance of Rs 62,000, and constituency allowance of Rs 45,000.

As per an RTI query in 2013 regarding Indian prime minister's salary, it was revealed that the PM also receives perks like personal staff, special jet, government residence, and much more.

According to the SPG Act, India's Prime Minister and members of his immediate family are provided security cover by the elite commando group who are specially trained in VIP security.

On Thursday, Modi met his mother Hiraba and took her blessings before leaving for New Delhi for the swearing-in on May 26, after finally bidding adieu to Gujarat saying, "Aavjo (goodbye) Gujarat" to 6.25 crore people.

Modi's swearing-in ceremony has already grabbed a lot of attention because of the guest list that includes heads of the states from all over the world.

This is for the first time that heads of the states of SAARC nations have been invited to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the Prime Minister.

The External Affairs Ministry has received confirmation from Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bhutan and Maldives.
