PM Narendra Modi arrives at White House

Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his second day of his US visit. He arrived at White House for a meeting with the US President Barack Obama.

The two world leaders are to hold talks for little over an hour and a half. Post which they are to address a press conference and issue a joint statement. The leaders are to have a working lunch at the White House too.

The focus of today's meeting is on climate change, defence and ways to counter terrorism. Both the countries are also keen to talk about diplomatic cooperation. PM Modi is to also meet business leaders and address the US-India Business Council.

Day one in Washington:

Yesterday when PM Modi landed in the US and began his formal engagements on a solemn note by honouring sacrifice and saluting valour at Arlington National Cemetery which is the final resting place of thousands of American veterans.

PM had then laid a wreath at Space Shuttle Columbia Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery. Families of astronaut Sunita Williams and Kalpana Chawla were also present then.

One highlight of the yesterday was US returning to India 200 stolen cultural objects. PM then had an interaction with the foreign policy makers in Washington.
