Plane catches fire on landing in Kathmandu
According to Tribhuwan International Airport authorities, the wheels of the Airbus 320 operated by budget airline Indigo caught fire while landing on Saturday and passengers were quickly evacuated through emergency doors.
Rishikesh Sharma, general manager of TIA, told the media that the fire was immediately controlled. The reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained.
On Friday, a Twin Otter plane belonging to Nepal Airlines also made an emergency landing at Kathmandu airport after it experienced minor glitches in its engine.
Aviation officials are investigating the incident.
Earlier this day, a Malaysian flight, which was flying from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, went missing near Vietnam. Reportedly, the flight, with 239 passengers on board, crashed into the sea near Vietnam.
