Chennai, April 9: In what can be said as a retaliatory action in the wake of Chittoor encounter killings of 20 men from Tamil Nadu, two men on Thursday, April 9 vandalised the Heritage Fresh supermarket at the Royapettah High Road at Mylapore in Chennai.
According to a report published in The Hindu, two bike-borne men barged into the Heritage outlet, in which there were around ten staff members and some customers. [Red sandalwood smuggling: It is now an AP vs TN battle]
While raising anti-slogans of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chadrababu Naidu, they ransacked the outlet.
Both the men hurled stones, broke glasses, damaged the signbnoard, damaged cash register and computers.
The duo also asked the local children to loot the store.
However, the two men did not attack the staff members and customers.
Both of them were detained by the police and claimed that they were the members of Tamizhar Ezhuchi Iyakkam.
The duo attacked at Heritage Fresh outlet as it's headquarters are based in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh.
To avoid further untoward incident, other Heritage outlets have been closed and security has been stepped up near those outlets.
Since Tuesday, many attacks on Andhra Pradesh-based outlets have been reported.
Andhra-Tamil Nadu buses have also taken a hit following protests in Tamil Nadu over gunning down of 20 people in a police operation against Red Sanders smugglers in Chittoor.
As many as 20 people were gunned down yesterday in Chittoor district in a police operation said to be against Red Sanders smugglers that came under severe attack from the government and political parties in neighbouring Tamil Nadu, which claimed 12 victims were labourers from their state.
