(Pics) Delhi police lodges FIR against Kejriwal's dharna
New Delhi, Jan 22: Two days after a Delhi court directed the police to lodge an FIR against law minister Somnath Bharti, following complaints lodged by the Ugandan women, the Delhi police has lodged an FIR against the Arvind Kejriwal-led Dharna outside the Rail Bhavan.
The FIR has been lodged against unknown people in the Parliament Street police station. The move came in the light of violent clashes between AAP members and the Delhi police, which led to the injury of 31 people.
The Dharna was organised by the party to demand suspension of the SHOs, who allegedly "ignored" sex-racketeering and drug peddling in their jurisdiction. All hell broke lose when AAP member and Delhi law minister took a battalion of ministers along with him to Delhi's extension of Khirki and harassed and assaulted Uganda women calling them "prostitutes".
Following Bharti's allegations and rash behaviour, the Ministry of External Affairs called over 20 African envoys to assure them that the Indian government will take action against the Thursday's incident.
Arvind Kejriwal, on the other hand, supported Bharti's actions saying that the latter acted on the people's complaints and accused the police instead for not following his orders.
The party had planned to continue the dharna for 8 more days, including the Republic Day, but was finally forced to withdraw the strike.
