Personal attack: Tharoor files complaint against CPM leader
Thiruvananthapuram, March 19: As Lok Sabha elections are around the corner, politicians in Kerala have resorted to making personal allegations at each other.

Union Minister Shashi Tharoor on Wednesday filed a complaint against the CPM leader and former Minister M Vijayakumar.

Vijayakumar, while inaugurating his central election committee office, made a statement that Tharoor will get a doctorate in violence against women.

Tharoor filed a complaint with EC stating that Vijayakumar's comment was defamation and a violation of the model code of conduct.

Kodikunnil Suresh, union minister of state and the UDF's Mavelikara candidate, filed a complaint with the presiding officer and District collector N Padmakumar against an online campaign against him, spearheaded by rivals.

He alleged that a photograph along with a TV actress Shalu Menon that is circulating in the social media is morphed. He also complained that derogatory comments are being made against him.

Shalu Menon is a controversial figure in the state for her alleged involvement in the Solar Panel scam which rocked the government last year.
