Passport: Police verification to be online now
The Union Home Ministry will also link the portal with the software of e-courts and e-prisons. This will help the police access court and prison records.
The delays in issuing passports due to lack of timely verification by the police will have a solution soon. The police verification would soon be done through an online process.
It may be recalled that the national data base on crimes and criminals was rolled out on Monday. The online verification would now be linked to the database which would make the process much faster.
The national digital police portal is linked the state police citizen portals. This would help the police verify information online as they would have access to the crime statistics and analytics.
"The police portal will provide the citizen facility for online complaint registration and request for antecdent verification...the CCTNS project will help in realising the Prime Minister's dream of 'minimum government, maximum governance'," the government said in a tweet.
The Union Home Ministry will also link the portal with the software of e-courts and e-prisons. This will help the police access court and prison records.
