Parents kill child for being the third girl in family

Midnapore (WB), May 2: A 22-day-old girl child was allegedly killed by her parents in the Pingla area of the district, the police said.

Durga Shankar Mondal and his wife Rinku Mondal had allegedly strangulated the baby as she was the third girl child in the family and the couple had wished for a boy, B Chandrasekhar, Superintendent of Police, said.

"Both husband and wife, who are residents of Karkui village, have been arrested and investigations are on," the SP said.
