The Delhi police said that Shoaib who was working for Mehmood Akthar, the staffer in the Pakistan high commission was operating since the past 3 to 4 years. Ravinder Yadav, the Joint Commissioner of Delhi Police said that he was well connected.
On Thursday after the police cornered, Akthar in connection with a spying case, three arrests were made. While Maulana Ramzan and Subhash Jangir were arrested from Rajasthan, the police later arrested Shoaib from Delhi.
Yadav said that he was operating smoothly since the past 3 to 4 years. He also said he had connections in the High Commission of Pakistan as well. The three spies arrested had a well oiled network, the officer also said.
Further he said that Shoaib was a visa agent and he is currently being interrogated. He had visited Pakistan several times. In fact he visited Pakistan six times. His mother and other relatives stay in Pakistan, Yadav said while also adding that he had contacts across the border.
The officer said that when Shoaib was about to be arrested, he tried destroying evidence. He said that he had on him a phablet and secret documents. However he was not successful in damaging the evidence, the officer also said while adding that his police custody for interrogation is being sought.
