New Delhi, Feb 24: BK Loshali has been removed from his post as DIG Indian Coast Guards and will face an inquiry in connection with the Pakistan terror boat case.
Loshali had in a function said that he was the one who had ordered shooting down of the boat from Pakistan which had entered into the Indian waters on the night of Dec 31 2014.
Loshali who will now face an inquiry had contradicted the statement of the defence ministry which had said that the inmates had blown up the boat.
Loshali's flip flops:
The statement made by Loshali at a function had given fodder to some in the media as well as Pakistan who have been questioning the incident.
On Dec 31 the coast guard following an intercept had cornered the boat which had come to India with a view of carrying out terror strikes.
Loshali in his statement had said that he did not wish to serve the Pakistanis biryani and had ordered shooting down of the boat.
However, he clarified his statement by saying he was quoted out of context. Later when asked by his higher ups he had apologised but the same was not accepted.
The government has maintained that the incident was bonafide in nature. The defence ministry had said that the inmates had blown up the boat.
The government has decided that it would not take kindly any such statements that blindly contradict the government's view.
The defence minister Manohar Parrikar had said last week that he sticks by the government's earlier stand. He even released a video showing that the inmates had blown up the boat.
