New Delhi, Sept 5: The government of India is likely to announce One Rank Pension by around 3 pm today. Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar is expected to make the statement today.
Sources tell OneIndia that there could be an announcement today, but it remains tentative at the moment. However the government is in favour of making the announcement today in a bid to end the stir undertaken by the veterans.
Will veterans call off stir?
Yesterday the veterans who have been protesting at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi said that they are not in favour of accepting the equalization clause of five years.
They had also planned a mammoth rally on September 12 to further their protest. However, today some of the veterans appear to be mellowing down and may accept the equalization clause. However, there continues to be uncertainty on this front and unless the announcement is made, the veterans are not fully ready to reveal their plans.
What the government is likely to announce?
The base year for the implementation of One Rank One Pension will be the year 2013 and the equalization would be every five years. The arrears would be paid to the beneficiaries on a half yearly basis.
The centre would also set up a judicial commission to study any anomaly. The one man commission will submit a report to the government within six months of its constitution.
