Lok Sabha yesterday passed a bill that seeks to tax black money deposited in banks post-demonetisation without any debate, provoking strong protests from Opposition leaders.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said the Bill would enable the government to implement schemes like the Garib Kalyan Kosh.
TMC said that the opposition did not get a chance to oppose its introduction and accused Jaitley of pushing the bill amid uproar in the house.
As per reports, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan ruled out all objections saying the bill is of urgent public importance.
The government, on its part, maintained that the bill would give impetus to its campaign against black money.
