OMG! This INLD candidate lost election by mere 3 votes

Haryana, Oct 20:In a shock to the INLD candidate who was contesting the elections from Rai in Sonepat district of Haryana, he lost the Assembly seat by mere three votes to Congress candidate.

It was a close contest between the INLD candidate Inderjeet Dahiya and the Congress candidate Jay Tirath Dahiya on Sunday. After all phase of counting, Tirath managed to get 36703 votes while Inderjeet got 36700 votes.

Other candidate in the fray, BJP's Krishna Gahlawat secured 34523 votes and ended up at third spot.

Meanwhile, Ranjit Kaushik of Haryana Janhit Congress (BL) voted 3,299 votes, and BSP candidate Satyapal Chauhan received 2,837 votes. Comrade Devender Singh of SUCI got 542 votes, while 477 voters exercised None of the Above (NOTA) Option.

Three other candidates who polled equal votes were Balbir of SMBHP and Jagbir and Naveen Kumar, both Independent candidates, who received 37 votes each. Paramjit, an Independent candidate polled 646 votes.

A total of 15 candidates had entered the fray from the Rai constituency.

Out of 90 seats of the Haryana legislature, BJP emerged as the single largest party with 47 seats while Congress reduced to 15 seats. Om Prakash Chautala's INLD won 19 seats.
