Old pic from Vietnam doing rounds as 'Nepal earthquake' image
New Delhi, May 7: On April 25 when a devastating earthquake struck Nepal, images of the damage started doing the rounds of social media.
Amongst this there was one picture that seemed to have caught everybody's attention. The image was of two kids holding onto each other tightly. Soon the photo was circulated on WhatsApp.
However, it turned out that the image was not from Nepal but from Vietnam and was taken in 2007. The photographer Na-Son Nguyen tweeted:

Nguyen tweeted that his photo had been misused by the Indian media apart from being shared in the wrong context on social media.
Soon after the Nepal earthquake the image went viral and was widely shared.
Meanwhile, death toll in the Nepal earthquake crossed 7500. Rescue operation teams from other countries were asked to pull out of Nepal as they government said that they will look after the remaining operations in Nepal.
