Ahmedabad, Aug 25: Addressing a mass gathering of Patel community members at Ahmedabad, convener of Patidar Aarakshan Andolan Samiti, Hardik Patel, on Tuesday threatened to sit on a hunger strike till Gujarat CM doesn't come and receive their memorandum.

"Till the CM (Anandiben Patel) doesn't come and receive our memorandum, we will sit on a hunger strike," Hardik Patel told the gathering after agreeing to the administration's request for not taking out the 'Maha Kranti Rally' to the district Collector's office to submit its memorandum.

Hardik Patel, who is leading the agitation demanding reservation for Patels under OBC quota, addressed the mass gathering at GMDC ground, where at least 8-9 lakh people of Patel community gathered to take part.

Addressing the rally, Patel said, "Humein humaara haq chaahiye, pyaar se chahiye, shaan se chahiye, iss haq ko hum bheekh nhi maante (OBC quota is our right and we'll achieve it with dignity)."

The leader has also challenged the ruling BJP at Centre and state to accept their demand else the party will suffer in 2017 Gujarat Assembly polls.

The 22-year-old leader had earlier said, "If people want us to go to jail, we will do so. Those who have hurt the interests of Patels have had to go. In 1985, we sent the Congress government packing. Anybody who hurts the ego of Patels will meet the same fate."
