No parole to campaign for don politician Mukthar Ansari
The Delhi high court on Monday rejected a plea by don politician Mukthar Ansari in which he sought parole. The court had earlier granted a three-day interim stay on custody parole that was handed out by the trial court.
Ansari is contesting the elections from Mau Sardar constituency on a BSP ticket. The Election Commission had moved the Delhi high court seeking cancellation of Ansari's parole which was granted by a special court. It was said that he is likely to influence the witnesses in the 2005 murder case of BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai.
The special court had granted custody parole to Ansari from February 16 to March 4 to campaign. On Friday the EC told the Delhi high court to reverse the special court order and quash the parole granted to him.
