In yet another change in the way schools are run in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday said there would be no holiday in schools on birth anniversaries of great personalities, said reports. He said that children should instead be taught about them on those days.
Adityanath had last week said that his government would introduce English in government schools from nursery instead of Class 6, as has been the practice so far.
He had said that there should be a blend of tradition and the modern systems in school education.
Adityanath had also mooted the idea to introduce foreign language options from class 10.
The Chief Minister had also said that yoga education programme will soon be made "compulsory" in schools run by the Uttar Pradesh government.
Adityanath-led government has also decided that mandatory self-defence training be provided to girl students in UP schools.
