Killing over Beef: Arvind Kejriwal stopped from entering Bisara village

New Delhi, Oct 3: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who was on his way to meet the family of a man lynched for allegedly eating beef, on Saturday said he was stopped by police from entering the victim's village.

"We were stopped by police and administration. (Minister) Mahesh Sharma and (Muslim leader Asaduddin) Owaisi not stopped yesterday. Then why me? I am most peace loving," Kejriwal tweeted.

Dadri lynching: 'No entry' for Kejriwal

On Monday night, 50-year-old Mohammad Akhlaq, a resident of Bisara village of Dadri area in Greater Noida, adjoining the national capital, was allegedly dragged from his home and lynched for sacrificing a cow.

On Saturday, Kejriwal was accompanied by Aam Aadmi Party leaders Kumar Vishwas, Sanjay Singh and Ashutosh.

"Ask the administration why they have stopped us," Sanjay Singh told reporters.

He said they were escorted to a guest house far from village.

"The administration is not telling us why they have stopped us, they are escorting us to a guest house," Ashutosh said.

He said: "We think the prime minister should come here, and spread a message so that something like this never happens again."
