Nitish to return as Bihar CM with BJP's support
Reports say that Sushil Modi may take up the post of Deputy Chief Minister.
After getting BJP's support, Nitish Kumar, who had resigned from Chief Minister's post on Wednesday, will be sworn-in as state's CM at 5 pm on Thursday.
Bihar BJP leader Sushil Modi earlier today confirmed that they would support Nitish. The alliance was formalised after BJP MLAs and JD-U MLAs held a meeting at Nitish's residence on Wednesday evening.
Reports say that Sushil Modi may take up the post of Deputy Chief Minister. BJP has submitted a letter to Bihar Governor K N Tripathi expressing their interest to support JD-U.
Nitish's decision to walk out of the Mahagathbandhan or the Grand alliance of JD-U, RJD and Congress has dealt a major blow to Congress' plans of pan-India anti-BJP front.
Nitish Kumar on Wednesday resigned as Bihar Chief Minister after a standoff with RJD over corruption charges against Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav.
No party has a majority in the 243-member Bihar Assembly. Kumar's JD-U) has 71 seats, while RJD has 80 lawmakers and the BJP 53.
BJP-JD (U) combine has 124 seats which is above the needed halfway mark.
