Similar protest marches were held in New Delhi too. Also in Delhi, External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid held a meeting with his Sri Lankan counterpart Gamini Lakshman Peiris.

Former Union Minister and DMK Chief Karunanidhi's son M K Alagiri spoke to media at his residence in Madurai on Tuesday. DMK had temporarily suspended Alagiri for creating confusion in the party ranks and criticising the disciplinary action taken against some colleagues for "anti-party activities".

In Shimla, a major fire broke out in a British-era half-timbered building which houses the office of the Accountant General of Himachal Pradesh. The fire was reported from the top two floors of the four-storeyed 109-year-old building in the wee hours of Tuesday.
