Bengaluru, Jan 18: The Karnataka Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah is set to meet with the Governor and recommend the name of Justice S R Nayak as the new Lokayukta.
The post of Lokayukta has been lying vacant since Justice Y Bhaskar Rao resigned following corruption allegations against his son and other members in the institution.
The Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is said to have finalised the name of Justice S R Nayak and is expected to announce his name in a day or two.
While the announcement is likely to be made, Siddaramaiah will first meet with the Governor of Karnataka, Vajubhai Vala and only then take a final call.
While the government of Karnataka has made up its mind on Justice Nayak, a lot would depend on what the governor has to say.
The CM has decided to take a final call only after the Governor clears the name of Justice Nayak.
The Karnataka government does not want to take any chances this time and wants to ensure that the institution runs smoothly and more importantly cleaned up.
Siddaramaiah will meet with the Governor in the next day or two and propose the name of Justice Nayak, sources say.
