Srinagar Dec 27: National Conference party on Saturday lashed out at academician and former Vice Chancellor Jammu University, Professor Amitabh Mattoo for his brash, obnoxious and unacceptable comments about the people of Jammu & Kashmir and National Conference.
Terming Mattoo's remarks, where he had called National Conference "untouchable" as a desperate effort on Mattoo's part to curry favors from a potential PDP Government, NC Spokesman Junaid Azim Mattu advised Amitabh Mattoo to either show the courage to join PDP directly or stop his nauseating moral platitudes on the sidelines to secure a job in a potential PDP Government in J&K.
"Amitabh Mattoo is one of the many facets of a prolonged propaganda by PDP to create biased political opinions and masquerade it as reflecting opinion", said NC Spokesman Junaid Azim Mattu.
"First there were PDP-sponsored satellite opinion polls from the other side of the globe where Mattoo gave NC less than 10 seats - a vision he had seen in his crystal ball, then there was Amitabh Mattoo's politicization of the tragic, devastating floods and now that PDP has gotten much less than what the Amitabh Mattoos of this propaganda machinery predicted in their self-indulgent, deluded 'election analyses', he has now resorted to discredit those more than 20% of people of J&K who voted in favor of National Conference. Who is Amitabh Mattoo to call National Conference untouchable and hence abuse those more than 20% of voters who reposed their faith in National Conference?", he asked.
"If Dr. Mattoo is so desperate to score brownie points and curry favors with Mufti Sahab and the PDP, he for a change should put his money where his mouth is and join PDP. Political commentary from the safe, stable confines of a full-time, politically sponsored job in Australia is a convenient excuse for courage. While it might fit the stereotype quite well, it certainly doesn't behoove one of human civilization's living icons of supernatural intellect to show such lack of conviction and courage", he added.
The NC Spokesman said the delusions of biased commentators like Dr. Amitabh Mattoo and those of his ilk had gone unchecked for far too long and the time had come to call a spade a spade.
"Enough is enough. This man has become a self-proclaimed holy-cow on Facebook and in press-statements issued from Australia. Now once you respond to his moral platitudes and judgements, I am certain he will resort to the canons of courtesy and fairness - which would be yet another reiteration of a deep-rooted hypocrisy on his part", he said.
