Naxalites had mutilated bodies of CRPF jawans in Chhattisgarh attack
The analysis of the attack which was conducted suggests that the prime intention was to send a strong message to the CRPF not to help with developmental work in the area.
The attack on the CRPF party at Chhattisgarh which killed 25 jawans was one of the most brutal ones in recent times. Post the confrontation that lasted nearly four hours, the bodies of the jawans were mutilated according to police sources. The police also confirmed that the private parts of the some of the jawans too were chopped off.
The manner in which the naxalites struck shows that they struck with vengeance. Sources say that the bodies of many of the jawans who were outnumbered were mutilated by the naxalites.
The analysis of the attack which was conducted suggests that the prime intention was to send a strong message to the CRPF not to help with developmental work in the area. In Sukma a major road is being constructed and the CRPF is helping with it. This had angered the naxalites as laying of roads would mean development and this in turn would defeat their very ideology and purpose. Moreover these roads run right through their core areas and they wanted to prevent it at any cost.
Further if one were to notice the naxals did not use landmines in the attack. This was clearly aimed at engaging the forces in a gun battle and then snatch arms before overpowering them. The idea was to inflict injuries and then loot weapons, the CRPF personnel said.
