Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President of Mozambique Filipe Nyusi jointly addressed press after holding restricted level and delegation level meetings.

While addressing the joint press meet Prime Minister said that, "Our shared struggles and suffering under colonial oppression brought our two countries together."

He further added that, "India was one of the strongest supporters of Mozambican independence."

PM on partnerships with Mozambique:

"Mozambique has already been one of the gateways for Indian investments into Africa."

"Our partnership is also driven by a convergence of capacities and interests."

"We agreed to put cooperation in agriculture on the fast track. We are also strengthening our partnership in food security."

"Health care is another area where India's capacities and Mozambican needs match well."

"Our agreement on prevention of drug trafficking is a testimony to our shared determination to combat this menace and these networks."

PM on exchange between two countries:

"I am particularly happy about our agreement to facilitate youth and sports cooperation and exchanges."

"We have stood with each other in the int'l arena on a range of issues from Security Council Reform to adoption of Int'd Day of Yoga."

"We greatly value Mozambique's partnership in the International Solar Alliance to counter climate change."

"Aware of the emerging challenges in the maritime domain, President and I have agreed to strengthen our defence & security relationship."

PM on defence and terrorism:

"President Nyusi and I recognize that terrorism is the gravest security threat facing the world today."

"President and I have today agreed to strengthen our defence and security relationship."

"The networks of terror are inter-linked with other trans-national crimes."

"Terrorism impacts India & Mozambique equally."

PM promised support:

"In Mozambique's march towards economic prosperity, India will walk every step of the way."

PM Narendra Modi ended his statement by saying that, "We will be a trusted friend."
