All eyes set on Narendra Modi's Amethi campaign today

New Delhi, May 5: BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is set to address a rally in Amethi, the bastion of the Gandhis, on Monday. Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi is the current representative to the Lok Sabha from this seat.

Before arriving in Amethi to wind up his campaigning in Uttar Pradesh for the day, Modi would address rallies in Ambedkar Nagar, Faizabad, Jaunpur and Kaushambi. All these constituencies will go to polls on May 7.

On Sunday, Modi said in a 3D rally that he was going to Amethi to reciprocate the love and affection of the party workers there.

The BJP has fielded its popular leader Smriti Irani against Rahul Gandhi, the two-time MP from Amethi, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has fielded Kumar Vishwas, making it an interesting three-way contest.

Rahul Gandhi and his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, meanwhile, continued with their campaigning in the UP constituency. On Sunday, the duo held a roadshow in Amethi and Priyanka in particular has launched scathing attacks on Modi from the two family bastions of Rae Bareli and Amethi.

While Rae Bareli went to the polls on April 30, Amethi will go to the polls on May 7, the eighth of the nine phase Lok Sabha election currently underway.
