Varanasi, May 8: The prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, who initially, was denied permission to hold rally in the city, began his roadshow in Varanasi. He kicked off his roadshow amid huge human wave.

Earlier while filing his nomination from Varanasi, Modi had asserted that he was invited by the Ganga.

Speaking at the rally in Rohaniya Modi said, I have come to you with one agenda and that is development. Except development there is nothing on my agenda."

"I am not interested in allegations and abuses. I have come here for development. Modi is not merely your candidate. We have developed a very strong bond already," he added.

Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley hit out at Uttar Pradesh government while tweeting, "In this election, Akhilesh Yadav and Arvind Kejriwal were allowed to hold a rally in Benia Bagh in Varanasi. Why can't Narendra Modi do it?"

Even school children are protesting against Election Commission claiming that it was biased while denying permission to Modi to hold a rally in Varanasi.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said, "We are going to protest against the EC, it is our democratic right. Modi has been campaigning all over the nation, but he is not getting permission to campaign in his own constituency."

BJP workers protesting outside BHU while students are writing exams:
BJP workers began protesting outside Banaras Hindu University (BHU) campus where students are writing exams. The move may prove costly for BJP ahead of Lok Sabha election. Varanasi is going to poll on May 12.

Modi is contesting from the city against AAP candidate Arvind Kejriwal and Congress candidate Ajay Rai.

Kejriwal hurls Twitter bombs on Modi ahead of Block Varanasi show:
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal criticised Modi and his party which is all set to hold a massive rally in Varanasi agitating against Election Commission.

Turning to micro-blogging site Twitter, Kejriwal tweeted, "Here is EC's Permission to Modi ji for Ganga Arti. Then why doesn't he just go and perform arti? Why politicise it?"

Narendra Modi urges BJP to maintain peace in Varanasi:
Ahead of the massive protest rally in Varanasi, Narendra Modi urged BJP workers and leaders to maintain peace in the city which will go to poll on May 12.

Meanwhile, the prime ministerial candidate of the party also slammed the Election Commission (EC) for its partial and biased decisions. While Modi was denied permission to hold rally, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi has been allowed to hold road show in the city.

BJP all set to hold massive protest in Varanasi:
Just a day after Varanasi DM Pranjal Yadav's decision of denying permission to Narendra Modi to hold rally in the city, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday, May 8 decided to hold massive protest.

Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley and Modi's close aide Amit Shah on Wednesday addressed a press conference where they confirmed that the party would carry protests in Varanasi and Delhi.

Modi was to address election rallies in Varanasi, performing a Ganga 'arti' and attend a get-together to interact with 150 prominent citizens. In a late night development, the district administration allowed the Ganga 'arti' and the interaction event at a hotel.

Though BJP has been given permission to hold two more rallies in the city, the furious party raised demand of removing the top election official of Varanasi for "partiality".

Jaitley said he and senior party colleagues including Amit Shah will stage a protest against the Election Commission outside the Lanka Gate of the BHU Thursday.
