Nalgonda, April 24: A child selling racket in Telangana's Nalgonda district has finally come to a stall when police tracked the kingpin and arrested him. Thanks to an NDTV expose a few days back that 15-month-old Madhavi and others like her were rescued.

The broker, Kamli, too was arrested. An undercover reporter went to a government children's home in Nalgonda, posing as a childless couple. Kamli had offered them three-month old baby Bhavani for Rs 30,000.

When enquired, if anything may go wrong, Kamli boasted that she had given away 20 children without any problems.

Kamli, however, says that she just sold one baby and denies selling anyone else other than Madhavi for Rs 17,000. It was further revealed that Madhavi was sold off by her father Swamy for Rs 5,000. Apart from him, the foster parents who had adopted her after having multiple still births were also arrested.

Rajitha, Madhavi's mother did not part with her willingly. Kamli took her way from her on the pretext of finding her parents who will bring her up properly.

However, for now the child will be kept in Shishu Vihar since her foster parents are in jail. Rajitha, mother of three girls, however says that she would bring all of them up, even if she had to beg.

The Baby Bazar was notorious for illegal transaction between an orphanage and childless couples. A baby could be obtained for as low as Rs 30,000. Most of these babies were either abandoned by their parents or were orphans.
