Muzaffarnagar riots: BJP MLA arrested from court

Lucknow, Oct 17: The third political arrest from BJP in the case of Muzaffarnagar riots has been made today. MLA Kunwar Bhartendra was picked up from court where he had appeared for a hearing of a case pertaining his involvement in inciting the communal riots in the city that killed 50 people last month.

BSP leader Noor Salim Rana was also arrested for his inflamatory speech in public that led to the communal tension, leading to riots. Meanwhile BJP has demanded the withdrawal of 'false' cases slapped at its ministers, stating that these were got up by the state's ruling SP.

Following the intensity of the riots, 250 cases were slapped against 10,000 people in Muzaffarnagar and 4,000 people in Meerut and Shamli.
